GreenPlumbers India, launched on February 5, 2010, is a collaboration of GreenPlumbers USA, International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO), and the Indian Plumbing Association (IPA). GreenPlumbers India (GPI) is a national training and accreditation program that assists the individuals and plumbing professionals in understanding their role in protecting the environment andpublic health.

GreenPlumbers India's mission is to train and deploy a green army of 1,500 GreenPlumbers India Accredited Specialists in 2010 to promote water and energy conservation and reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. The focus of GreenPlumbers India is on advising the consumer and improving plumbing systems through the use of energy efficient and water saving technologies. GreenPlumbers India Accredited Specialist will be trained with a focus on increasing consumer awareness on saving the planet earth by using water and energy efficient plumbing fixtures and systems.

GreenPlumbers India Accredited Specialists will work with the plumbing industry, government departments, large construction organizations, educational institutions, developers, and builders to implement the ambitious green plumbing program.

Training consists of a five-part accreditation in environmental and technical issues including Caring for our Water, Climate Care, Water Efficient Technologies, Solar Hot Water, and Inspection Report Services. The four day training will be offered on two successive weekends at all IPA chapters all over India and will certify the participating individuals as GreenPlumbers India Accredited Specialists.
